Brookwood Villa
Project Type - Residential
Location - Devon
Following a strong demand from interior designers, we produced a light, driftwood-effect, sun-bleached floor using a 300-year-old antique oak.
The finished product ticked all the tonal, aesthetic, and textural boxes, so much so that we went on to manufacture a classic Parquet de Versailles panel in this method, which we named ‘Franklin’. This tone has remained popular throughout the years and Franklin has been one of our most loved antique floors since its inception.
The stunning visual impact of Franklin panels when on display in our London Design Centre led to them being chosen by the client for her residential renovation in Devon, a coastline area in the South of England, experiencing the very best of the British weather. The panels were selected due to the exact match we produce through the border, meaning element-to-element continues across the entire floor.
It took no more than a week for our artisans to be on site to discuss the project directly with the client and her project managers.
We swiftly learned their aesthetic design requirements, timescales and plans and introduced them trusted local installers who were able to fit the floor panels, matching borders and cladding for stair treads, risers and profiled nosings. All of which is available through Woodworks to complement your floor.
Once production of the handcrafted Franklin panels was underway an appointment was made for the homeowner to visit our manufacturing facility. They then viewed and approved the panels firsthand to ensure they were completely satisfied with the unique tone, texture and antique features that appear on each panel.
Several weeks after the installation was complete, we were happy to receive appreciative feedback from the client who expressed her gratitude and delight with the outstanding level of service she experienced, as well as the beautiful antique floor.
The end result is a simply stunning seaside home.
Floor to ceiling windows allow light to cascade in, highlighting the best historical features within the floor. Natural materials for the seating, tables and accents bring an organic element to the property alongside our flooring, matching the scenery in a pinch. The architectural details which our artisans crafted are also a triumph, allowing the multiple stairways to complement the Franklin floor.
